Who we are?

We are the Polish Psychologists’ Association
a non-profit organisation that has been supporting the mental health of Poles in the United Kingdom for 20 years.

We were established in response to the real need for support within the Polish community in the UK, helping people regain psychological balance so that no one feels alone in their struggles.

Our services

In the Polish Psychologists’ Association, your safety, comfort and confidentiality are our priority. We work in line with ethical standards, offering full understanding and empathy.

Our approach:

We walk alongside you through your difficulties, helping you rediscover inner strength and find the most suitable path toward lasting improvement in your daily functioning.

We support people experiencing:

For example, you feel that life in the United Kingdom is more difficult than you expected – you are constantly stressed, unable to rest, feel that you have no time for yourself, and everyday responsibilities feel overwhelming.

For example, panic attacks, shortness of breath, tension, fear of social contact, or anxiety related to changing jobs, moving house, or adapting to life in a new country.

For example, feelings of loneliness, low mood, missing Poland and loved ones, lack of motivation, postnatal depression, or a sense that everything feels overwhelming.

For example, you feel that you are “in between” Poland and the United Kingdom, unsure where home is or who you are – in relationships, at work, or in your role as a parent.

For example, tensions arising from living between two cultures, differences in values, communication difficulties, emotional distance, or loneliness within a relationship.

For example, adjustment difficulties in a new school, a sense of being different, embarrassment about speaking Polish, or the emotional impact of migration and relocating to another country.

For example, differences in parenting styles, communication difficulties between generations, and supporting a child’s identity development between two languages and cultures.

For example, living at a constant pace, balancing work, family and responsibilities, lacking a close support network, and feeling that everything rests on your shoulders.

For example, emotional instability, impulsivity, difficulties in relationships, low self-esteem, and a need to better understand yourself within a new life context.

For example, a lack of intimacy, reduced libido, difficulties in communication, and cultural differences in the way emotions and closeness are understood.

Did you know that…

…our volunteers are active in different parts of the United Kingdom? Some members of our team also live in Poland – we currently collaborate with nine volunteers working from there, which shows that support and real help do not require one fixed location or a constant physical presence in one place.

We work online, which means you can get involved in community initiatives regardless of where you live. Volunteering in our team gives you the opportunity to contribute from anywhere on the map!
